My Cycling History
Above is a map showing my history of riding bikes with a GPS device. I have used a GPS device to track nearly all of my recreational cycling for over 20 years, since June, 2005. The color of a dot on the map indicates the number of distinct rides I have pedaled past that point, within a radius of 10 meters. Meaning, if I rode past the point at the beginning and end of a ride, or I did laps around a loop, the passage counts only once per ride. There is a color legend in the bottom right corner using the Fibonacci sequence for binning the counts.
Most of my riding has been near Boulder in Colorado, and San Diego and the Bay Area in California. There are a few in the greater Los Angeles area and central California Coast. Look north of Flathead lake in Montana, Leadville in Colorado, and St. George in Utah, for a few more tracks.
Here is a full screen version of the map.
If you're interested, please let me know and I'll write a post about how I made this.
I will try to update this map periodically!
